Position summary : US Field Medical Director
US Field Medical Director will lead and manage a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), driving performance, coaching, and execution of Hansa’s field medical strategy. This role will optimize external scientific engagement with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), healthcare entities, and other relevant stakeholders to advance product knowledge and deliver clinical insights. The US Field Medical Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate tactical plans that contribute to educational initiatives, research projects, business planning, and corporate goals.
The US Field Medical Director reports to the Senior Director, US Medical Affairs, and resides in the Northeast or Midwest region of the US.
Key tasks and responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Field Medical professionals by setting clear objectives and driving performance excellence.
Develop and implement the MSL Effectiveness Model, ensuring meaningful metrics/ performance measurement, and routine reporting to senior leadership.
Conduct observations of MSL external scientific engagement (in-person and virtual) and provide documented feedback.
Ensure knowledge and strict adherence to compliance standards, regulatory expectations, internal policies, and SOPs.
Communicate the strategic value of Field Medical across internal stakeholders.
Develop field medical strategy, in alignment with US Med Affairs strategy, and guide territory‑level planning and execution.
Develop and support scientific engagement activities with KOLs and healthcare professionals.
Drive generation of field insights and ensure they are communicated to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
Oversee development and approval of field medical resources that enable effective proactive and reactive scientific exchange.
Work with Medical Communications to inform the publication plan with relevant insights from the field.
Work with Medical Information to develop, plan, and review materials used for responses to scientific inquiries from health care professionals.
Collaborate with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs to support research initiatives, including trial site engagement, Investigator-initiated study planning/support, and real-world evidence generation.
Develop Field Medical Congress Plan, in alignment with cross-functional team, to support scientific exchange and deliver relevant medical insights.
Develop onboarding training plans and ensure continued education of the field medical team.
Foster team advancement through individual development plans, best‑practice sharing across regions, team building and educational initiatives.
Foster effective, compliant cross‑functional partnerships.
Education and experience requirements
Advanced medical or scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, DNP).
5+ years of field medical experience, including 2+ years in a team leadership role.
Demonstrated success managing high‑performing field teams and achieving qualitative and quantitative objectives.
Strong experience with both proactive and reactive field medical initiatives.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and external KOLs/HCPs, as well as manage complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex science into relevant clinical context.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions, cultures, and diverse teams.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Demonstrated understanding of compliance, ethical, legal, and regulatory guidelines related to Medical Affairs.
Ability to travel approximately 50%.
Preferred: experience supporting product launches.

Estimated salary range for this role is $220,000 - $250,000 annually. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications, skills and experience of the individual applicant, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the geographic location of the individual. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives, as well as participation in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, company holidays and well-being benefits.
